Abdel Bari Atwan, analyst and editor of the newspaper, added that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will begin his tour to the Middle East and the Persian Gulf states on Tuesday, which aims to face what Atwan said 'Iran's threat in the face of increasing tensions' between Iran and the US.
He added that the goals of the trip are deeper than what the Persian Gulf newspapers are writing, such as lambasting those officials who ordered the murdering of Saudi journalist and critic Jamal Khashoggi and reconciling the PGCC states, especially Iran, has announced plans to send a ship with the capability to carry ballistic missile and helicopter, equipped with an anti-aircraft defense system, to Venezuela near the United States’ territorial waters and conducted military exercises on Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz last week in which boats, helicopters, radar boats and Commando teams took part.
Atwan added that the rapid progress of Iran's ballistic missile program, as well as the announcement of Tehran's decision to launch missiles carrying spy satellites into space, is an issue of concern to the United States and calls for Iran to review these actions which according to Pompeo, violates United Nations Security Council's resolutions.
